In situ investigation of chemical composition during TIG welding in duplex stainless steels using Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS)

Summary: The chemical composition of Duplex Stainless Steels (DSS) during Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding process can be monitored in real-time using Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) technology. Reliable composition measurements are achievable despite the influence of surface temperature and welding plasma on spectral intensities. The concentration of alloying elements can be mapped during the TIG welding process.
