Genetic variations of root development traits under different concentrations and forms of nitrogen in Bangladeshi rice (Oryza sativa L.) accessions

M. M. Emam Ahmed et al.

Summary: This study evaluated genetic variations in root traits of different rice varieties in relation to nitrogen concentrations. The results showed that landraces and improved varieties had different root development strategies and potential for nutrient uptake in nitrogen environments. The accessions were classified into four sub-clusters based on total root length, with differences observed among ecotypes.

BZR1 Regulates Brassinosteroid-Mediated Activation of AMT1;2 in Rice

Shuo Yang et al.

Summary: The study revealed that brassinosteroids regulate ammonium uptake in rice by activating the expression of AMT1 genes. BZR1, a central hub of the brassinosteroid signaling pathway, plays an important role in regulating AMT1 expression and rice roots NH4+ uptake. The findings suggest a transcriptional regulation mechanism involving ammonium transporters in brassinosteroid-mediated ammonium uptake in rice.
