Biochar and vermicompost improve growth and physiological traits of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) under deficit irrigation

Summary: The study showed that application of vermicompost and pistachio biochar at 100% plant water requirement had the best effect on plant growth and performance. The highest early crop yield was seen under pistachio biochar and 50% plant water requirement, while the total plant yield was highest under a combination of vermicompost and pistachio biochar at 100% plant water requirement. The maximum plant water use efficiency was observed under mixed application of vermicompost and pistachio biochar at 50% plant water requirement.

Physiological and biochemical responses of onion plants to deficit irrigation and humic acid application

Summary: The interaction of deficit irrigation (DI) and humic acid (HA) significantly affected the protein, peroxidase (POD), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and potassium (K) concentrations in onions. DI at 60% reduced bulb fresh weight, while HA application increased soluble sugars and protein concentration in leaves, and protein, iron (Fe), potassium (K) concentrations, and catalase (CAT) activity in bulbs under DI conditions.
