The rhizosphere microbiome plays a role in the resistance to soil-borne pathogens and nutrient uptake of strawberry cultivars under field conditions

Cristina Lazcano et al.

Summary: Microbial-root associations play a crucial role in helping plants resist abiotic and biotic stressors, with resistant cultivars showing higher abundances of beneficial bacteria in their rhizosphere microbiome. Further research on these plant-microbial interactions is needed to develop low-input disease management strategies.

Potential of Bradyrhizobia inoculation to promote peanut growth and beneficial Rhizobacteria abundance

J. Y. Shang et al.

Summary: The study found that inoculation with Bradyrhizobium significantly increased peanut growth and yields. Moreover, plant development also influenced the structure and co-occurrence association networks of rhizobacterial communities in the peanut rhizosphere.

Dynamic changes of soil microbial community in Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica plantations in the Mu Us Sandy Land

Boyuan Bi et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the dynamic changes of soil microbial communities during the growth of Pinus sylvestris var. mongolic plantations in desertification environments. The results showed that soil microbial alpha diversity and community structure were influenced by stand age, with available phosphorus and total phosphorus being significant factors. Soil moisture had no significant effect on the microbial community. pH and available nitrogen had the largest positive total effects on bacterial and fungal community, respectively. Stand age indirectly had the largest negative total effects on the bacterial community. Therefore, phosphorus utilization efficiency played a key role in shaping the soil microbial community during the natural restoration process of Pinus sylvestris plantations in desertification environments.

Rootstock effects on scion gene expression in maritime pine

M. Lopez-Hinojosa et al.

Summary: The study found that maritime pine trees have a strong adaptability to drought, with significant differences in gene expression between different genotypes. When drought-tolerant scions of Oria 6 were grafted onto drought-tolerant rootstocks, more genes related to abiotic stress tolerance were activated. The grafting configuration significantly influenced gene expression in maritime pine trees.
