Molecular Insight into the Binding Property and Mechanism of Sulfamethoxazole to Extracellular Proteins of Anammox Sludge

Gui-Feng Li et al.

Summary: Antibiotics, such as sulfamethoxazole, can interact with extracellular proteins of anammox sludge, leading to fluorescence quenching and structural changes. The binding process is enthalpy-driven, and the aromatic proteins show the strongest quenching effect. Molecular simulations suggest that sulfamethoxazole can disrupt the structure of extracellular proteins through hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions.

Achieving nitritation in an aerobic fluidized reactor for coking wastewater treatment: Operation stability, mechanisms and model analysis

Zemin Li et al.

Summary: The study utilized toxic compounds in coking wastewater to inhibit nitrite oxidizing bacteria, achieving stable nitritation. Results showed that controlling the organic loading rate and dissolved oxygen concentration can regulate the nitritation process, inhibiting NOB while preserving AOB activity.
