Multiyear outcomes using sibling oocytes demonstrates safety and efficacy of a simplified culture system consistent with use in a low-cost IVF setting

Willem Ombelet et al.

Summary: This study compared the performance of a simplified in vitro fertilization culture system (SCS) with the conventional method (ICSI) in terms of pregnancy rate, implantation rate, and miscarriage rate. The results showed no difference between the two methods in the selected patient cohort.

The risk of birth defects with conception by ART

Barbara Luke et al.

Summary: The use of ART, especially with ICSI, is associated with increased risk of birth defects, highlighting the importance of careful consideration and monitoring during ART procedures. Further research is needed to understand the exact mechanisms behind this increased risk.

High birth weight and large-for-gestational-age in singletons born after frozen compared to fresh embryo transfer, by gestational week: a Nordic register study from the CoNARTaS group

A. M. Terho et al.

Summary: This study compares the birth weights of singletons born after frozen embryo transfer (FET) and fresh embryo transfer (fresh ET), finding that FET singletons have higher birth weights starting from gestational week 33 for boys and week 34 for girls, along with differences in risks of large-for-gestational-age and small-for-gestational-age compared to fresh ET.

Separating parental and treatment contributions to perinatal health after fresh and frozen embryo transfer in assisted reproduction: A cohort study with within-sibship analysis

Kjersti Westvik-Johari et al.

Summary: Infants conceived by fresh-ET had lower birthweight and increased odds of being small for gestational age, while those conceived by frozen-ET had higher birthweight and increased odds of being large for gestational age. Both fresh-ET and frozen-ET were associated with increased odds of preterm birth. This association was observed within siblings, reducing the likelihood of confounding or selection bias.

ART in Europe, 2017: results generated from European registries by ESHRE

C. Wyns et al.

Summary: The 21st ESHRE report on ART, IUI, and FP interventions in Europe shows a continuous increase in treatment numbers, a slight decrease in multiple delivery rates, higher pregnancy rates and multiple delivery rates after frozen embryo replacement compared to fresh cycles, as well as stable outcomes for IUI cycles. Efforts should be made to optimize data collection and reporting to improve quality control and transparency in the field of reproductive medicine.
