Recent Possibilities for the Diagnosis of Early Pregnancy and Embryonic Mortality in Dairy Cows

Otto Szenci

Summary: Pregnancy diagnosis is crucial in dairy farms for reducing days open, with traditional and new methods available in the field. Accuracy is key before introducing new diagnostic tests to minimize iatrogenic pregnancy losses. Techniques like B-mode ultrasonography and biomarkers show promise for early pregnancy detection, but further development is needed.

Ultrasonographic approach and findings in calves with hydranencephaly

Morteza Gorjidooz et al.

Summary: Ultrasonography was found to be effective in detecting hydranencephaly in calves by showing temporal bone and mantle structures, as well as fluid instead of brain parenchyma. The transtemporal approach used in this study is a novel and easy method for studying calf brains with this condition.
