Investigation of BaO reinforced TiO2-p2O5-li2O glasses for optical and neutron shielding applications

Kh S. Shaaban et al.

Summary: The optical and radiation shielding characteristics of 15TiO(2)-70P(2)O(5)-(15-x)Li2O-xBaO (0<=x<=10 mol%) glasses were investigated. The addition of BaO increased the density and altered the optical properties of the glasses. Glasses with high BaO content showed excellent material properties and potential applications in optical and radiation shielding.

Thermal, structural and optical properties of Bi2O3-Na2O-TiO2-ZnO-TeO2 glass system

W. L. Fong et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the glass stability of tellurite glasses decreases with increasing Bi2O3 content, attributed to the decomposition of TeO4 units, replacement of Te-O-Te bonds by Te-O-Bi bonds, and formation of Bi-O-Bi bonds. Additionally, an increase in Bi2O3 content resulted in a decrease in the optical band gap, indicating glasses with high polarizability suitable for optical and photonic applications.

Summary: Increasing CeO2 concentration in PbO2-B2O3-CeO2 glass system results in the conversion of [BO4] to [BO3] structural units and the formation of non-bridging oxygen ions. The decrease in N-4 fraction from 0.654 to 0.239 confirms the formation of [CeO7] structural units that require more oxygen atoms.
