Calculation of the gamma radiation shielding efficiency of cement-bitumen portable container using MCNPX code

Sonia M. Reda et al.

Summary: The study found that cement-bitumen composites have higher photon attenuation coefficient compared to cement paste alone, making them suitable for shielding material for dual photon protection. It is recommended to use these new compositions in casting containers for embedding Cs-137 and Co-60, especially during transportation and long-term storage.

Optical and radiation shielding features for a new series of borate glass samples

M. I. Sayyed et al.

Summary: By exploring a series of borate glass samples for their durability and optical parameters, it was found that sample S2 exhibited the highest durability and a good correlation with optical features. The radiation shielding properties of the glass samples were also investigated, with sample S5 showing the best shielding properties for gamma and proton radiation, while sample S1 provided the highest neutron shielding features.
