Effect of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole concentration on sour-corrosion behavior of API X60 pipeline steel: Electrochemical parameters and adsorption mechanism

Masoud Sabzi et al.

Summary: The effect of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole concentration on the sour-corrosion behavior of API X60 pipeline steel in an environment containing H2S was investigated. The results showed that 2-mercaptobenzothiazole inhibitor can slow down the corrosion rate and improve the corrosion resistance of the steel, forming iron sulfide compounds on the surface.

Sensitivity to hydrogen induced cracking, and corrosion performance of an API X65 pipeline steel in H2S containing environment: influence of heat treatment and its subsequent microstructural changes

S. H. Mousavi Anijdan et al.

Summary: In this study, the effects of microstructural changes and phase equilibria on the corrosion behavior and HIC sensitivity of an API X65 pipeline steel were investigated. Increasing the heat treatment temperature was found to reduce pearlite content, increase ferrite grain size, and stabilize ferrite content, leading to improved corrosion resistance. HIC sensitivity was substantially increased with increasing pearlite content and decreasing ferrite content in the steel.
