Meta-analysis of anaerobic co-digestion of livestock manure in last decade: Identification of synergistic effect and optimization synergy range

Jialiang Zhou et al.

Summary: The research conducted a meta-analysis on 124 peer-reviewed articles focusing on the AcoD of livestock manure and concluded that the ratio of experimental values to weighted values is a relatively optimized evaluation index. Methane production and organic degradation should both be considered simultaneously to effectively evaluate the synergistic effects in the AcoD process. Furthermore, a recommended synergy interval for carbon-nitrogen ratio of 20-27 was suggested for achieving higher probability of synergy.

Enhancement of CH4 oxidation potential in bio-based landfill cover materials

Monika Niemczyk et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy of yard waste and leaf compost (YWLC) and biosolids compost (BSC) as bio-based landfill cover materials for oxidizing methane (CH4), finding that optimal results were achieved with mixing ratios of 1:1 and 1:4 between the two composts.

Numerical modeling of methane oxidation and emission from landfill cover soil coupling water-heat-gas transfer: Effects of meteorological factors

Rongxing Bian et al.

Summary: CH4 emissions from landfills show temporal and spatial variation due to changing meteorological conditions. A water-heat-gas transfer model incorporating a meteorological module and CH4 oxidation was used to investigate the influence of barometric pressure, air temperature, and rainfall on CH4 transport, oxidation, and emissions in landfill cover soils. Results indicated that low atmospheric pressure can lead to lower CH4 oxidation efficiency, while rainfall events decrease CH4 emission flux. Establishing a real-time landfill CH4 emission model considering varying climatic conditions is crucial for improving prediction accuracy.
