A proposed unified mitotic chromosome architecture

John Sedat et al.

Summary: A molecular architecture for a representative mitotic chromosome, human chromosome 10, is proposed based on cryo-electron microscopy and experimental proof. The structure provides insights into the organization and dimensions of mitotic chromosomes. The study also suggests optimal exposure of nucleosome linker DNA sequences on the surfaces of large-scale coils.

Entropy-regularized deconvolution of cellular cryotransmission electron tomograms

Matthew Croxford et al.

Summary: Entropy-regularized deconvolution (ER-DC) was applied to cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) data to address limitations in signal-to-noise ratio and Z resolution, with assessment conducted through Fourier analysis and subtomogram analysis (STA).

Archaeal chromatin 'slinkies' are inherently dynamic complexes with deflected DNA wrapping pathways

Samuel Bowerman et al.

Summary: Archaea and eukaryotes have different ways of packaging DNA, with archaeal histones forming a 'nucleosome-like' complex that has not been directly observed in solution structures. Studies show that archaeasomes on longer DNA display dynamic accessibility, allowing for adjustments in chromatin packing and accessibility without disrupting DNA binding.
