Evaluation of Mechanical and Wear Performances of Natural Fiber Reinforced Epoxy Composites

P. Venkateshwar Reddy et al.

Summary: The present study explored the potential usage of natural fiber reinforced composites (NFC) for industrial applications and analyzed the mechanical and wear behavior of three different NFCs. The results showed that prosopis juliflora fiber exhibited improved mechanical and wear behaviors compared to the other two NFCs.

Dry Sliding Wear Behavior of Chemically Treated Sisal Fiber Reinforced Epoxy Composites

Sudhakar Behera et al.

Summary: The research investigated the effect of fiber surface treatment on sisal fibers and their epoxy composites, showing improvements in surface roughness, crystallinity, and thermal stability of chemically treated fibers. The wear resistance of chemically modified SFREC was increased compared to untreated SFREC, with the best wear properties demonstrated by alkali-treated SFREC. Applied load and sliding distance were observed to have the most defining effect on wear volume loss of SFREC according to ANOVA findings.

A Review on Chemical Modification by using Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) to Investigate the Mechanical Properties of Sisal, Coir and Hemp Fiber Reinforced Concrete Composites

Ismail Shah et al.

Summary: This review article focuses on the mechanical properties of sisal, coir and hemp fiber-reinforced concrete composites, discussing the effects of NaOH treatment on the mechanical properties of these natural fiber composites and the techniques for improving the surface of natural fibers. Research has shown that NaOH treatment significantly enhances the adhesion of fiber concrete composites. The review aims to gather and explore previous studies on the mechanical properties of these natural fibers to establish a basis for their use as composite materials.

Effect of Nanosilica and Nanoclay on the Mechanical, Physical, and Morphological Properties of Recycled Linear Low Density Polyethylene/Rice Husk Composites

Wagih Abdel Alim Sadik et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the potential of waste rice husk fibers as reinforcement for recycled plastics in Wood-plastic composites (WPCs). The addition of nanosilica and nanoclay at different concentrations improved the mechanical properties of the composites, but excessive nanoclay loading may lead to agglomeration issues. Furthermore, the incorporation of nanoparticles reduced water absorption and thickness swelling of the composites, showing enhancement in adhesion properties.
