Spectral decomposition-based explicit integration method for fully non-stationary seismic responses of large-scale structures

Helu Yu et al.

Summary: This paper presents a spectral decomposition-based explicit integration method for random vibration analysis of large-scale linear structures subjected to fully non-stationary seismic excitations. The method decomposes the seismic excitation process using the spectral representation method, leading to a discrete representation of the excitation process in terms of an orthogonal random vector. It derives an explicit expression for the state response vector of structures with respect to the orthogonal random vector by direct discretization and integration of the structural state equation, and obtains the explicit expression for the structural acceleration responses using finite-difference formulas. These explicit expressions can be used to calculate the correlation matrix and evolutionary power spectral density of stochastic responses, as well as evaluate the response samples required in Monte Carlo simulation efficiently.

Uncertainty Quantification of Random Fields Based on Spatially Sparse Data by Synthesizing Bayesian Compressive Sensing and Stochastic Harmonic Function

Jingran He et al.

Summary: Spatial variation is common in engineering practice and can be quantified using random fields. This paper discusses how to quantify spatial variation based on limited observation data and introduces the BCS-SHF scheme to address uncertainty due to hard-to-control factors. Numerical examples demonstrate the high accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method in reproducing target mean values and covariance functions.
