A novel hierarchical CdS-DETA@CoP composite as highly stable photocatalyst for efficient H2 evolution from water splitting under visible light irradiation

Yuchao Yao et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel hierarchical CdS-DETA@CoP composite was successfully fabricated and applied for visible-light-driven photocatalytic water splitting for hydrogen generation. The excellent catalytic performance and stability of the composite are mainly attributed to the synergistic effect between CdS-DETA and CoP, as well as the uniform dispersion of CdS-DETA on the surface of hierarchical CoP co-catalyst.

Fabrication of the hierarchical CdS flowers assembled from flakes with (0001) facets exposed as efficient photocatalyst for H2 production

Qingyan Zhang et al.

Summary: Photocatalysts with more reactive crystal facets exposed, such as hierarchical CdS flowers assembled from flakes with reactive (0001) facets, exhibit enhanced photocatalytic ability. The optimal samples showed higher photocatalytic H-2 production activity and photostability compared to normal CdS spheres. The photostability of hierarchical CdS flowers was mainly affected by the degree of self corrosion, as indicated by a study employing MoS2 and ZnS coatings.

Designing 0D/2D CdS nanoparticles/g-C3N4 nanosheets heterojunction as efficient photocatalyst for improved H2-evolution

Zul Fiqar et al.

Summary: Rational design of heterojunction photocatalysts can effectively enhance the separation efficiency of photoinduced e(-)-h(+) and optimize the photostability of the photocatalytic system. By constructing a 0D/2D heterojunction containing CdS nanoparticles and g-C3N4 nanosheets, an intimate contact interface was ensured for enhancing the photogenerated e(-)-h(+) separation. This study provides a new avenue for designing and constructing effective heterojunction photocatalysts that exhibit superior photocatalytic efficiency and increased photostability.

Rongjuan Feng et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel dual co-catalyst of black phosphorene (BP) and single Pt atoms on CdS nanospheres was prepared for efficient visible-light-driven hydrogen generation. The single Pt atoms interacted strongly with BP and CdS surfaces through photo-reduction and covalent bonds, enhancing the photocatalytic performance. The results demonstrate the synergistic effect of single Pt atoms and BP on spatial charge separation, leading to a significant improvement in the hydrogen evolution rate.

Xiangyu Liu et al.

Summary: The construction of a heterojunction composed of zero-dimension nickel sulfide nanoparticles and cadmium sulfide flowers has led to significant improvement in photocatalytic H-2 production under visible light irradiation. The obtained nano composite with 25% NiS exhibits remarkable performance with an H-2-production rate 69.6 times higher than that of pristine CdS. The enhanced photocatalytic activity is mainly attributed to the intimate contact and efficient separation of photoinduced carriers across the interface.

Photogenerated charge dynamics of CdS nanorods with spatially distributed MoS2 for photocatalytic hydrogen generation

Xinxin Lu et al.

Summary: A series of MoS2-loaded CdS nanorods have been fabricated, with MoS2 spatially distributed on the tips or both tips and walls of the CdS NRs. The presence of a spatial electric field between CdS NRs and MoS2 tips strongly induces photogenerated electron-hole separation and electron transfer. MoS2 located on the tips of CdS NRs can better separate electron-hole pairs and suppress charge recombination, leading to superior photoactivity.
