An Experimental Study of Physical, Mechanical and Morphological Properties of Alkali Treated Moringa/areca Based Natural Fiber Hybrid Composites

Subhakanta Nayak et al.

Summary: In this study, PET composites reinforced with areca sheath and Moringa oleifera fruit fibers were fabricated using injection molding technique. Comparative analysis of the physical and mechanical properties of the different composite samples was conducted, including void percentage, micro-hardness, impact, flexural and tensile strength. SEM and TGA were used to analyze the surface texture and thermal properties. The results revealed that the MF composites had higher tensile and flexural properties, while the AM composites showed better micro-hardness and impact strength. SEM micrographs showcased improved fiber-matrix bonding in MF composites, indicating enhanced thermal degradation resistance. Consequently, these fiber-reinforced PET composites can be potentially utilized as alternative materials for lightly to moderately loaded structural engineering applications.

Properties of organic and inorganic filler hybridization on Timoho Fiber-reinforced polyester polymer composites

Femiana Gapsari et al.

Summary: The study focused on improving the performance of TF-reinforced polyester composites by adding organic and inorganic fillers. It was found that aluminum powder (AP) was more effective in increasing density than egg shell powder (ESP), and the tensile and impact strength of the composite increased with higher TF volume. However, the addition of ESP and AP fillers caused changes in mechanical characteristics, increasing elasticity modulus and toughness while decreasing tensile strength. Additionally, SEM observation supported the analysis of TF-polyester composite mechanical characteristics.
