Organizational Structure and Artificial Intelligence. Modeling the Intraorganizational Response to the AI Contingency

Ihor Rudko et al.

Summary: The further development of artificial intelligence (AI) will have diverse and profound consequences on society, impacting the organization of labor and capital within companies. This paper emphasizes the unique role of human agency in forthcoming AI-driven organizational changes, proposing hypotheses on AI contingency at macro and meso levels. Through online surveys, four types of jobholders were identified based on their attitudes towards hypothesized organizational changes, leading to the development of a model for intraorganizational response to AI contingency. Skeptics, doubtful skeptics, optimists, and doubtful optimists were distinguishable groups, with the latter, primarily consisting of emerging adults, seen as crucial in setting organizational trends and influencing others positively.

Introducing a novelty indicator for scientific research: validating the knowledge-based combinatorial approach

Kuniko Matsumoto et al.

Summary: This study proposes a novelty indicator to quantify citation similarity between papers in natural sciences, demonstrating its usefulness through validation analysis using Japanese survey data. The results show statistically positive correlations between novelty scores and researchers' subjective assessments of research novelty in various natural science fields.
