Novel, technical advance: A new grapevine transpiration prototype for grape berries and whole bunch based on relative humidity sensors

Summary: Grape berry transpiration is an important process in maturation, but there is limited scientific evidence. A new open differential chamber system is introduced for measuring grape berry/bunch transpiration. Validation experiments showed that detaching the bunch from the plant did not significantly affect transpiration rates. The system's results were highly correlated with water losses inferred from weighing the berries.
