Noise limits on two-photon interferometric sensing

Hamish Scott et al.

Summary: Two different interferometers, the Mach-Zehnder interferometer and the Hong-Ou-Mandel interferometer, exhibit different sensitivities to phase noise and delay when dealing with photon interference. The Mach-Zehnder interferometer provides more accurate estimation of path length difference, while the Hong-Ou-Mandel interferometer is more sensitive to the relative indistinguishability of photon pairs.

Experimental Progress on Quantum Coherence: Detection, Quantification, and Manipulation

Kang-Da Wu et al.

Summary: This review article provides an overview of the research progress on quantum coherence as a resource, with a focus on recent experimental efforts. It discusses experimental detection and quantification of coherence, state conversion and coherence distillation, and dynamics of quantum coherence. The article also reviews experiments exploring the connections between coherence and uncertainty relations, path information, and coherence of operations and measurements, as well as efforts on multipartite and multilevel coherence.

Coherence of operations and interferometry

Michele Masini et al.

Summary: Quantum coherence is a key feature in driving applications of quantum mechanics beyond classical physics. Efforts have been made to quantify coherence through quantum resource theories, yet the application of this framework to specific technological tasks is limited. The authors address this issue by connecting the ability of an operation to detect or create coherence with the performance of interferometric experiments.
