Instrumented electromagnetic generator: Optimized performance by automatic self-adaptation of the generator structure

Pedro M. R. Carneiro et al.

Summary: In this study, a new concept of self-adaptive electromagnetic generator was introduced and its effectiveness was demonstrated through theoretical and experimental research. The generator utilized a magnetic levitation architecture and achieved self-adaptability by changing its effective length and resonance frequency based on the characteristics of mechanical excitations. The results showed a power gain of around 30% under conditions of harmonic inputs with changing frequencies and amplitudes, indicating the potential of self-adaptive energy harvesting technologies for highly sophisticated autonomous generators.

On the Optimization of a Multimodal Electromagnetic Vibration Energy Harvester Using Mode Localization and Nonlinear Dynamics

Kaouthar Aouali et al.

Summary: This paper studies a generic model of a nonlinear quasiperiodic vibration energy harvester based on electromagnetic transduction. A validated 2-DOFs harvester is optimized to significantly improve harvested power and frequency bandwidth. The results show that using a 5-DOFs VEH with two perturbed DOFs oscillators can effectively increase harvested power and frequency bandwidth.

Achieve frequency-self-tracking energy harvesting using a passively adaptive cantilever beam

Chunbo Lan et al.

Summary: This paper investigates a frequency-self-tracking (FST) energy harvester with passive self-adaptation capability, which uses a piezoelectric transducer to achieve efficient energy harvesting by matching the excitation frequency. The proposed FST-VEH demonstrates significantly enhanced energy harvesting performance and over 800% increase in output voltage amplitude due to its passive self-adaptation capability.
