Probing Compressed Baryonic Matter

Peter Senger

Summary: The objective of the CBM experiment is to investigate the fundamental properties of compressed baryonic matter, particularly the equation-of-state and microscopic degrees-of-freedom at high baryon densities. The results from these experiments will complement astronomical observations and deepen our understanding of compact stellar objects.

Recent Results on Strangeness Production from STAR

Muhammad Usman Ashraf

Summary: Recent results of strangeness production in Au+Au collisions at root s(NN) = 54.4 GeV and Al+Au fixed-target collisions at root s(NN) = 4.9 GeV from the STAR experiment at RHIC are reported. The collision-energy dependence of strange hadron yields is presented, as well as the study of recombination and parton energy loss mechanisms through measurements of nuclear modification factor (R-CP) and baryon to meson ratio ((Lambda) over bar /K-S(0). The STAR fixed-target data are compared to previous published data from different AGS experiments, and the physics implications for collision dynamics are discussed.

Production of Hyperons, Strange Mesons and Search for Hypernuclei in Interactions of Carbon, Argon and Krypton Beams in the BM@N Experiment

M. Kapishin et al.

Summary: The BM@N experiment at the NICA-Nuclotron accelerator complex is the first of its kind, focusing on the study of dense nuclear matter produced in heavy-ion collisions. Initial experiments used deuterons and carbon beams, with later runs involving argon and krypton beams. Preliminary physics results include the production of Lambda hyperons in carbon-nucleus interactions and the identification of various particles in argon-nucleus interactions. The performance of the upgraded BM@N central tracker in reconstructing strange particles and hypernuclei in heavy-ion interactions is also evaluated.

Review of the BM@N Physics and Upgrade Program

P. Senger

Summary: In the near future, the Nuclotron at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna will deliver heavy-ion beams with kinetic energies up to 3.8 A GeV for the study of dense nuclear fireballs in Au + Au collisions and investigation of high-density equation-of-state (EOS) of nuclear matter. The Baryonic Matter at the Nuclotron (BM@N) experiment is being upgraded to measure Au + Au collisions at the highest energies and beam intensities available at the Nuclotron, along with the research and upgrade program and physics performance studies.

Probing Dense Nuclear Matter in the Laboratory: Experiments at FAIR and NICA

Peter Senger

Summary: The poorly understood properties of high-density strongly-interacting matter play a significant role in determining the structure of neutron stars and the dynamics of neutron star mergers. New insights from astronomical observations and laboratory experiments, such as heavy-ion collisions, provide crucial information about the high-density EOS and possible phase transitions.
