Pulmonary function tests in extremely low gestational age infants at one year of age

Judith A. Voynow et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify factors associated with abnormal lung function at 1 year in ELGANs. It found that male sex and African American race, longer duration of ventilatory support, exposure to systemic steroids, and being underweight at 36 weeks postmenstrual age were associated with airflow obstruction. Additionally, post-NICU factors such as respiratory medications, technology use, or hospitalizations were linked to decreased lung function at 1 year.
