Bromoarylation of Methyl 2-Chloroacrylate under Meerwein Conditions for the Synthesis of Substituted 3-Hydroxythiophenes

Yurii Ostapiuk et al.

Summary: Methyl 3-aryl-2-bromo-2-chloropropanoates were prepared via Meerwein reaction catalyzed by copper(II) bromide, and were utilized as starting materials for the synthesis of substituted 3-hydroxythiophenes. The structural variety of the obtained 2-substituted 5-aryl-3-hydroxythiophenes was achieved due to the wide range of available starting materials, including both anilines and thiols.

α-Selective C(sp3)-H Thio/Selenocyanation of Ketones with Elemental Chalcogen

Jin-Cheng Li et al.

Summary: A facile method for the synthesis of alpha-thio/selenocyanato ketones through regioselective C-H thio/selenocyanation of ketones has been disclosed. The advantages include the use of easily available starting materials, high efficiency, simple operation, and easy scale-up. Control experiments provide evidence that the reaction proceeded via a radical way, while kinetic isotope effect experiments reveal that the cleavage of the C-H bond serves as the rate-limiting step.

Solid state thiazole-based fluorophores: Promising materials for white organic light emitting devices

Kumar Godugu et al.

Summary: This study developed a facile and efficient solvent-free mechanochemical synthesis route for a series of solid state white light emissive thiazole-based donor-acceptor type fluorophores. The photophysical and electrochemical properties of these compounds have been investigated, showing potential for white organic light emitting devices with tunable emission spectra. The HOMO and LUMO energy levels of the compounds are in the range of -5.52 eV to -5.72 eV and -1.84 eV to -2.45 eV, respectively, indicating promising materials for white light emitting devices.
