Facile retro-Dieckmann cleavage of a pink phyllobilin: new type of potential downstream steps of natural chlorophyll breakdown

Chengjie Li et al.

Summary: In senescent leaves of higher plants, chlorophyll breakdown products can be converted into yellow and pink phyllobilins. The originally identified pink chlorophyll catabolite is unstable and undergoes a transformation into a yellow substance. This transformation represents a novel skeletal transformation of a phyllobilin.

Treatments for NAFLD: State of Art

Alessandro Mantovani et al.

Summary: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common chronic liver disease globally, and management strategies include lifestyle changes, controlling metabolic risk factors, correcting modifiable risk factors, and preventing complications. Over the past decade, various potential agents have been investigated for treating NAFLD and its advanced forms, shedding some light but also casting shadows on their effectiveness.

Peptides released from bovine α-lactalbumin by simulated digestion alleviated free fatty acids-induced lipid accumulation in HepG2 cells

Haoran Chen et al.

Summary: The study showed that peptides from alpha-lactalbumin hydrolysate could improve lipid metabolism in HepG2 cells, with P2 and P8 being more effective in enhancing intracellular TG and PPAR alpha levels. These peptides acted as PPAR alpha ligands to regulate lipid metabolism-related gene expression, showing promise in ameliorating obesity.

Hypermonones A-I, New Polyprenylated Acylphloroglucinols from Hypericum monogynum with Multidrug Resistance Reversal Activity

Yan-Rong Zeng et al.

Summary: In this study, eleven biogenetically related polyprenylated acylphloroglucinols (PPAPs) were isolated from the flowers of Hypericum monogynum, including novel skeletons and compounds. Three compounds showed significant MDR reversal activity, surpassing the positive control verapamil. The mechanism study for compound 5 suggested that it inhibits the function of P-gp transport and the recognition mechanism between compound 5 and P-gp was predicted by molecular docking.

Hymoins A-D: Two Pairs of Polyprenylated Acylphloroglucinols from Hypericum monogynum and Their Light-Induced Transformation

Yan-Rong Zeng et al.

Summary: Two pairs of light-induced transformative polyprenylated acylphloroglucinols with an unprecedented pentacyclic skeleton were isolated from the flowers of Hypericum monogynum. The first decarbonylative ring contraction of complex natural products was investigated by light irradiation. Their structures were elucidated by nuclear magnetic resonance analysis, X-ray crystallography, and electronic circular dichroism calculations, with compound 3 showing moderate inhibition efficacy of the platelet-activating-factor-induced aggregation of rabbit platelets.
