Copper-Catalyzed Regiodivergent and Enantioselective Hydrosilylation of Allenes

Jian-Lin Xu et al.

Summary: A copper-catalyzed regiodivergent hydrosilylation of a wide range of simple allenes is reported. Linear and branched allylsilanes can be obtained by choosing suitable solvents. Moreover, high enantioselectivity branch allylsilanes (up to 97% enantiomeric excess) can be achieved in the unprecedented asymmetric allene hydrosilylation with a C2-symmetric bisphosphine ligand.

Cobalt-Catalyzed Sequential Site- and Stereoselective Hydrosilylation of 1,3-and 1,4-Enynes

Wenxin Lu et al.

Summary: This study presents the catalytic sequential hydrosilylation of 1,3-enynes and 1,4-enynes promoted by cobalt complexes derived from bisphosphines. The reactions resulted in the formation of enantioenriched cyclic alkenylsilanes with simultaneous construction of a carbon-stereogenic center and a silicon-stereogenic center. The functionalization of these chiral silanes provides access to a variety of difficult-to-access chiral building blocks.

Copper-Catalyzed Highly Selective Hydrosilylation of Silyl or Boryl Alkene: A Method for Preparing Chiral Geminated Disilyl and Borylsilyl Reagents

Min Zhang et al.

Summary: The copper-catalyzed hydrosilylation reaction of silyl orboryl alkene has been successfully developed, enabling the practical synthesis of chiral geminated disilyl and borylsilyl reagents. These reagents are versatile organosilanes that can be used in various organic synthesis reactions. Experimental results have demonstrated the compatibility of this reaction with a wide range of functional groups, and the utility of the gem-dimetal compounds prepared through this chemistry has been well illustrated through further transformations.

Copper-Catalyzed Markovnikov Selective 3,4-Hydrosilylation of 2-Substituted 1,3-Dienes

Ying Wang et al.

Summary: A copper-catalyzed regioselective Markovnikov 3,4-hydrosilylation of 2-substituted 1,3-dienes has been successfully achieved. A wide range of 2-substituted 1,3-dienes and trihydrosilanes are compatible under the optimal conditions. The use of a bisphosphine ligand with a rigid backbone provides the Markovnikov 3,4-hydrosilylation product with better yield and selectivity. Additionally, the synthetic utilities of the allylsilanes were demonstrated through their flexible derivatizations.

Silicon-Stereogenic Monohydrosilane: Synthesis and Applications

Yichen Wu et al.

Summary: Optically active organosilanes have been demonstrated to be versatile chiral reagents in synthetic chemistry. Monohydrosilanes, which bear a Si-H bond, are especially unique due to their facile transformations through stereospecific bond-formation reactions. In addition, they have also been used as chiral reagents for alcohol resolution, chiral auxiliaries, mechanistic probes, and potential optoelectronic materials.

Asymmetric Cobalt-Catalyzed Regioselective Hydrosilylation/Cyclization of 1,6-Enynes

Yang'en You et al.

Summary: An enantioselective cobalt-catalyzed hydrosilylation/cyclization reaction of 1,6-enynes with secondary and tertiary hydrosilanes produced chiral organosilane products in high yields and excellent enantioselectivity, which could be further converted into a variety of chiral five-membered heterocyclic compounds without loss of enantiopurity.

Recent Advances in Catalytic Asymmetric Construction of Atropisomers

Jun Kee Cheng et al.

Summary: Atropisomerism is a stereochemical behavior exhibited by three-dimensional molecules with rotationally restricted sigma bonds, and compounds with atropisomerically chiral properties are increasingly utilized in fields where molecular asymmetry is influential. There is a steady demand for atroposelective synthesis, leading to conceptually novel and streamlined methods for expanding the structural diversity of atropisomers. This review summarizes key achievements in the stereoselective preparation of biaryl, heterobiaryl, and nonbiaryl atropisomers between 2015 and 2020, emphasizing synthetic strategies for each structural class and potential applications of atropochiral targets.

CuH-Catalyzed Regio- and Enantioselective Hydrocarboxylation of Allenes: Toward Carboxylic Acids with Acyclic Quaternary Centers

Sheng Feng et al.

Summary: A method for preparing alpha-chiral carboxylic acid derivatives, including those with all-carbon quaternary centers, was reported through an enantioselective CuH-catalyzed hydrocarboxylation of allenes with a commercially available fluoroformate. Various heterocycles and functional groups on the allenes were tolerated, resulting in enantioenriched alpha-quaternary and tertiary carboxylic acid derivatives with good yields and exclusive branched regioselectivity. The synthetic utility of this approach was further demonstrated by derivatization of the products to obtain biologically important compounds, such as the antiplatelet drug indobufen.

Synthesis of Structurally Diverse Allylsilanes via Copper-Catalyzed Regiodivergent Hydrosilylation of 1,3-Dienes

Zi-Lu Wang et al.

Summary: Novel copper-catalyzed regiodivergent hydrosilylation reactions have been developed, allowing highly selective control of 1,2- and 1,4-hydrosilylation reactions of substituted 1,3-dienes by varying the catalytic systems. Additionally, the first successful 1,4-hydrosilylation reaction of 2-aryl-substituted 1,3-dienes with diphenylsilane was achieved, providing convenient and efficient methods for synthesizing structurally diverse allylsilanes.
