Growth of Gold Nanorods: A SAXS Study

Susanne Seibt et al.

Summary: By monitoring the growth of nearly monodisperse gold nanorods using hydroquinone as the reductant, it was observed that an increase in hydrogen tetrachloroaurate(III) concentration leads to longer rods, while a higher hydroquinone concentration results in a reduced aspect ratio. The final number of gold rods is smaller than the initial seed particles, indicating complex growth dynamics with distinctive phases.
