High sensitivity fiber cladding SPR strain sensor based on V-groove structure

Yong Wei et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a high sensitivity fiber cladding SPR strain sensor based on V-groove structure. By fabricating V-groove on the single-mode fiber using a CO2 laser, the light in the fiber core is effectively coupled to the cladding. The sensor has the advantages of a simple structure, convenient manufacture, and high sensitivity.

A Fabry-Perot cavity coupled surface plasmon photodiode for electrical biomolecular sensing

Giles Allison et al.

Summary: Surface plasmon resonance technology is commonly used for detecting binding kinetics in biological samples, but is often limited by complex optical detection methods. This study introduces an optoelectronic approach where a plasmonic sensor integrated in a photovoltaic cell can generate an electronic signal sensitive to the refractive index of a solution through plasmon interaction. This near-field electrical detection of surface plasmon resonance shows promise for the development of next generation cost-effective, compact, and high throughput biosensors.
