Low Vπ thin-film lithium niobate modulator fabricated with photolithography

Ye Liu et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the design and fabrication of thin-film lithium niobate modulators to achieve a super-wide modulation bandwidth and reduce driving voltage. By calculating optical losses and V-pi for different parameters, modulators with extremely low driving voltage and wide bandwidth were successfully fabricated.

Hybrid electro-optic modulator combining silicon photonic slot waveguides with high-k radio-frequency slotlines

Sandeep Ummethala et al.

Summary: This paper presents a method for efficient electro-optic modulators using slot-waveguide structures, which overcome the limitations of modulation bandwidth by applying this structure in modulating radio-frequency signals. Experimental results demonstrate excellent performance, providing a new approach towards efficient silicon photonic modulators with sub-1mm device lengths, sub-1V drive voltages, and modulation bandwidths exceeding 100 GHz.

Wideband thin-film lithium niobate modulator with low half-wave-voltage length product

Xuecheng Liu et al.

Summary: A novel TFLN electro-optic modulator with a hybrid waveguide, capacitive loaded traveling-wave electrodes, and a quartz substrate has been proposed and demonstrated. This modulator shows low optical loss, low half-wave-voltage length product, and a high operating frequency with a 3.4 V half-wave voltage and less than 2 dB roll-off in an electro-optic response at 67 GHz.
