Hepatocyte steatosis inhibits hepatitis B virus secretion via induction of endoplasmic reticulum stress

Qichuang Liu et al.

Summary: Hepatocyte steatosis inhibits HBsAg and HBV DNA secretion via induction of ER stress in hepatocytes, but not via induction of GRP78. 4-phenylbutyric acid (PBA) alleviated ER stress induced by steatosis. Stearic acid (SA) and oleic acid (OA) significantly induced expressions of ER stress-related proteins and promoted intracellular HBsAg and HBV DNA accumulation.

APASL clinical practice guideline on hepatitis B reactivation related to the use of immunosuppressive therapy

George Lau et al.

Summary: The clinical practice guidelines aim to assist clinicians in effectively preventing and managing hepatitis B reactivation related to the use of immunosuppressive therapy. Recommendations include screening all patients for hepatitis B before starting immunosuppressive therapy and administering pre-emptive nucleos(t)ide analogues to those at substantial risk of hepatitis-induced acute-on-chronic liver failure.
