New records of powdery mildews on oak trees in Pakistan

This study reports the occurrence of powdery mildew symptoms on oak leaves in Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Pakistan from 2019 to 2021. The causal agents were identified as Cystotheca quercina and Erysiphe quercicola, which are new records for Pakistan. DNA data for C. quercina were provided for the first time. Quercus baloot is reported as a new host record for powdery mildews.
During 2019 to 2021, powdery mildew symptoms were observed on both surfaces of leaves of oak trees in Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Pakistan. After morpho-anatomical and molecular analyses, the causal agents were identified as Cystotheca quercina and Erysiphe quercicola that are new records for Pakistan. DNA data are provided for C. quercina for the first time. Quercus baloot is a new host record for a species of powdery mildews.
