Site-Selective Late-Stage C-H Functionalization via Thianthrenium Salts

Florian Berger et al.

Summary: C-H functionalization is an efficient method to increase the complexity of organic molecules rapidly, but improving selectivity remains a challenge. By utilizing sulfonium salts, we have developed a highly selective approach for aromatic C-H functionalization, enhancing not only the efficiency of the reaction but also expanding the scope of follow-up reactions.

Bifunctional sulfilimines enable synthesis of multiple N-heterocycles from alkenes

Qiang Cheng et al.

Summary: Intramolecular cyclization of nitrogen-containing molecules onto pendant alkenes is an efficient strategy for the construction of N-heterocycles. In this study, sulfilimines were used as bifunctional N-radical precursors for cyclization reactions with alkenes, resulting in the synthesis of N-unprotected heterocycles in a single step through photoredox catalysis. The method offers a broad and diverse scope, enabling the synthesis of structurally diverse N-heterocycle products.
