The discovery of rest-frame UV colour gradients and a diversity of dust morphologies in bright z ≃7 Lyman-break galaxies

Summary: In this study, deep ALMA dust continuum observations were conducted on a sample of luminous and high-redshift star-forming galaxies. The results showed that a significant portion (35-75%) of the total star formation rate in these galaxies is obscured. It was also found that the peak of star formation activity in these bright Lyman-break galaxies is typically hosted by fainter and redder regions in the rest-frame UV. These findings highlight the importance of understanding dust-obscured star formation during the Epoch of Reionization.

The impact of dust on the sizes of galaxies in the Epoch of Reionization

Summary: This study examines the sizes of galaxies in the Epoch of Reionization and their relationships with stellar mass and luminosity. It finds that larger galaxies tend to have higher stellar masses and that dust plays a significant role in the observed size-luminosity relation. The study also shows that galaxy size evolves with redshift. Furthermore, it compares the sizes of quasar host galaxies, finding that they are smaller compared to the overall galaxy sample but have similar sizes when measured using dust-attenuated images.

First Light And Reionisation Epoch Simulations (flares) - IV. The size evolution of galaxies at z ≥ 5

The inclusion of dust leads to larger observed sizes compared to intrinsic sizes, with the increase driven by dust concentration in the core of galaxies. Finding High-redshift Galaxies with JWST

First Light And Reionization Epoch Simulations (FLARES) - II: The photometric properties of high-redshift galaxies

Observing the host galaxies of high-redshift quasars with JWST: predictions from the BlueTides simulation

First Light And Reionization Epoch Simulations (FLARES) - I. Environmental dependence of high-redshift galaxy evolution

By employing full hydrodynamics and a novel weighting scheme, FLARES constructs composite distribution functions representative of the full parent volume, significantly extending the dynamic range compared to smaller periodic simulations. Analysis of FLARES predictions for the galaxy stellar mass function, star formation rate distribution function, and star-forming sequence show a clear double-Schechter form and no environmental dependence of the SFS normalization, providing insights for future surveys probing the EoR.
