Summary: This study investigated the phenolic composition, antioxidant and antibacterial properties of Thymus zygis subsp. gracilis, Mentha suaveolens and Sideritis incana extracts from the Ifrane region of Morocco. The extracts showed high antioxidant activity and demonstrated bactericidal or bacteriostatic effects against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. These plants have the potential to be used as natural antioxidant and antibacterial agents in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Lavandula pedunculata (Mill.) Cav. Aqueous Extract Antibacterial Activity Improved by the Addition of Salvia rosmarinus Spenn., Salvia lavandulifolia Vahl and Origanum compactum Benth

Summary: Lavender aqueous extracts from Morocco have been used in traditional medicine for their antibacterial properties. This study evaluated the antibacterial activity of the Moroccan Lavandula pedunculata (Mill.) Cav. aqueous extract alone and in combination with extracts of other plants known for their antibacterial activity. The results showed that the extracts had a wide spectrum of antibacterial activity, especially against staphylococci, streptococci, Mycobacterium smegmatis, and Proteus mirabilis. The combination of the extracts showed synergistic effects, and the extracts were rich in polyphenols and tannins, with high levels of rosmarinic acid. This is the first study to demonstrate the enhanced antibacterial activity of L. pedunculata aqueous extract combined with other plant extracts.
