Chemical variability of volatile concentrate from two Ipomoea L. species within a seasonal gradient

Oseias Souza da Silva Junior et al.

Summary: This study extracted volatile concentrate from Ipomoea asarifolia and Ipomoea setifera in different seasons, and analyzed their chemical composition using gas chromatography. The results showed that the chemical composition of Ipomoea asarifolia varied more with seasonality. Germacrene D and alpha-copaene may have ecological importance in attracting specific pollinators during the rainy months.

Physiological performance and chemical compositions of theEryngium foetidumL. (Apiaceae) essential oil cultivated with different fertilizer sources

Thiara Luana Mamore Rodrigues et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the physiological performance, yield, and chemical profile of the essential oil obtained from leaves and roots of Eryngium foetidum cultivated using different fertilizer sources. Gas exchange and chlorophyll a fluorescence parameters were not affected by the different fertilizer sources. The highest essential oil yield was obtained in leaf samples cultivated with mineral fertilizer and control conditions, while mineral fertilization yielded the highest essential oil in root samples. Additionally, PCA and HCA analyses showed distinct groups formed by roots and leaves, characterized by different chemical constituents.

Chemical Composition and Preliminary Toxicity Evaluation of the Essential Oil from Peperomia circinnata Link var. circinnata. (Piperaceae) in Artemia salina Leach

Kessia do Socorro Miranda Mesquita et al.

Summary: Peperomia Ruiz and Pav, the second largest genus of the Piperaceae, was studied for seasonal and circadian variations in the chemical composition of its essential oils and aromas. The study found that the chemical composition is influenced by the period and time of collection. Clinical toxicity testing revealed that the essential oil extracted from dry material collected in July had the highest toxicity value.

Chemical Composition and Antioxidant Activity of Essential Oils from Eugenia patrisii Vahl, E. punicifolia (Kunth) DC., and Myrcia tomentosa (Aubl.) DC., Leaf of Family Myrtaceae

Celeste de Jesus Pereira Franco et al.

Summary: Essential oils were extracted from Eugenia patrisii, E. punicifolia, and Myrcia tomentosa using hydrodistillation, with major volatile constituents identified by GC/MS. The antioxidant capacity of the oils was determined through DPPH and TEAC assays, showing variation between different specimens and collection periods. The EOs, especially from E. punicifolia, exhibited higher antioxidant activity in DPPH assays compared to TEAC.
