Dose-response relationship between fat distribution and liver cancer incidence: A prospective cohort study in Chinese men

Zhuo-Ying Li et al.

Summary: The study found that waist circumference, waist-to-height ratio, body shape index, and body roundness index were associated with an increased risk of liver cancer, while body shape index showed a decrease in risk in the early stages followed by a gradual increase. Waist-to-height ratio and body roundness index were better predictors of liver cancer risk compared to waist circumference and body shape index.

Stochastic lightning damage prediction of carbon/epoxy composites with material uncertainties

S. Z. H. Shah et al.

Summary: This study presents a novel stochastic modeling framework for predicting lightning thermal damage in carbon/epoxy composites. The results show that the use of stochastic electrical conductivity slightly increases the predicted thermal damage, while the presence of voids does not significantly affect the damage development. Additionally, the proposed model is capable of predicting asymmetric lightning damage to carbon/epoxy composites.

Electrical resistance control model for polypyrrole-graphene nanocomposite: Energy storage applications

Oladipo Folorunso et al.

Summary: This study conducted preliminary research on the morphology, thermal stability, and diffraction properties of PPy and Gr using SEM, TGA, and XRD. A model based on the Gompertz equation was proposed and modified to control the resistivity of the polymer, considering various input variables and identifying the percolation threshold. The modified Gompertz model showed higher efficiency and reliability compared to experimental measurements, and it was recommended for predicting the electrical conductivity of composites due to its accuracy, efficiency, and versatility in data parameterization.

Shujahadeen B. Aziz et al.

Summary: This study presented the preparation and characterization of plasticized sodium ion-conducting polymer electrolytes based on PVA, which were used in EDLC device fabrication. Various electrochemical techniques were employed to evaluate the influence of plasticization on the polymer electrolytes and estimate ion transport parameters. The highest conductivity recorded was 1.17 x 10(-3) S cm(-1), and the fabricated EDLC device showed stable performance for up to 400 cycles, with high specific capacitance, energy density, and power density obtained at the first cycle.
