Spatial variation of microtubule depolymerization in large asters

Keisuke Ishihara et al.

Summary: The study utilized a new method to track microtubule plus-end depolymerization rate and found strong spatial regulation in large asters, with higher rates within the interior. The authors suggest that lower levels of tubulin and microtubule-associated proteins inside the aster restrict microtubule assembly. Egg asters are tuned to low microtubule density.
