Reliability evaluation method of anti-loosening performance of bolted joints

Qingyuan Lin et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the sources, forms, and degrees of uncertainty in the anti-loosening performance of bolted joints. By calculating the distribution of stochastic critical transverse load and integrating probability density function under uncertain parameters, reliability was obtained. The validity of the reliability evaluation method was confirmed through finite element analysis and experimental tests on different bolted joint specimens.

Robust damage localization in plate-type structures by using an enhanced robust principal component analysis and data fusion technique

Shancheng Cao et al.

Summary: Damage localization in plate-type structures using full-field vibration measurements has gained increased attention. A general strategy involves accurately extracting and integrating damage features from different modes for robust localization. However, measurement noise and lack of baseline data may degrade the accuracy of feature extraction, leading to conflicting evidence for damage localization. An enhanced robust principal component analysis and data fusion approach are proposed to address these challenges, resulting in a robust method for detecting multiple damage zones.

Full life-cycle monitoring and earlier warning for bolt joint loosening using modified vibro-acoustic modulation

Xiaoshu Qin et al.

Summary: This study develops a full life-cycle monitoring approach for bolt loosening using a modified VAM method and nonlinear indexes, achieving earlier warning in the thread loosening stage. The results demonstrate the sensitivity of nonlinear indexes to predict bolt early looseness before the bolt head and interconnecting component loosening, contributing to the reliability of VAM-based bolt early loosening monitoring.

A novel second-order output spectrum based local tuning method for locating bolt-loosening faults

Quankun Li et al.

Summary: This paper presents a novel method based on second-order output spectrum for the precise localization of multiple bolt-loosening faults in complex structures. By considering a more general multi-degree-of-freedom model and a special local tuning mechanism, a novel damage indicator is derived successfully.

A novel percussion-based method for multi-bolt looseness detection using one-dimensional memory augmented convolutional long short-term memory networks

Furui Wang et al.

Summary: In the past decade, percussion-based methods have shown advantages in detecting bolt looseness due to their low cost and ease of operation. However, they rely on manual feature extraction, lack validation in anti-noising and adaptability, and only consider single-bolt looseness, limiting their application scope.
