Atomic Layers of Graphene for Microbial Corrosion Prevention

Govind Chilkoor et al.

Summary: Graphene shows promise in biointerface applications, effectively restricting biogenic sulfide attack. Single-layered graphene may worsen the attack, while multilayered graphene offers better protection. Defects, such as double vacancy defects and grain boundaries, affect the protection ability of graphene layers.

Review on the corrosion-promotion activity of graphene and its inhibition

Wen Sun et al.

Summary: Graphene films and graphene-reinforced nanocomposite coatings have attracted significant attention for corrosion protection due to their chemical inertness and impermeability to aggressive chemicals. However, the potential for high corrosion-promotion activity in graphene-based metal protectors presents a challenge that researchers are actively working to address for future applications.

Graphene Confers Ultralow Friction on Nanogear Cogs

Andrea Mescola et al.

Summary: This study investigates the nanomechanical properties of graphene on different textured silicon surfaces, revealing that the strain induced in capped graphene can be regulated by the variation in pitch lengths. The asymmetric straining of C-C bonds over the corrugated architecture results in distinct friction dissipation with respect to the groove axis. Experimental results show that strain-dependent solid lubrication can be regulated by the corrugation, leading to ultralow frictional forces.

Preparation and anti-corrosion performance of superhydrophobic silane/graphene oxide composite coating on copper

Y. Chen et al.

Summary: The superhydrophobic silane/graphene oxide (GO) composite coating synthesized on copper surface showed excellent anti-corrosion performance and durability. The covalent reaction between silane and GO nanosheets was found to form a more protective and durable coating. The prepared coating exhibited a corrosion current density decrease of over two orders of magnitude in a 1 M NaCl solution, indicating a high protection efficiency and durability.
