Tough hydrogels with tunable soft and wet interfacial adhesion

Yikun Zhang et al.

Summary: The study introduces a dual network hydrogel with super toughness and tunable adhesion achieved through hydrogen bonding crosslinking. By adjusting hydrogen bond density, strong and tough hydrogels with different levels of adhesion strength and adhesive failure mechanisms can be prepared. These tough and adhesive hydrogels have great potential in engineering artificial soft tissues or implantable devices for adherence to internal organs or tissues.
