Preparation, characterization of naringenin, β-cyclodextrin and carbon quantum dot antioxidant nanocomposites

Yan Liang et al.

Summary: In this study, naringenin loaded beta-cyclodextrin and carbon quantum dots composite nanoparticles were successfully synthesized and characterized. The results showed that the incorporation of carbon quantum dots improved the antioxidant activities of the nanoparticles and the encapsulation efficiency of naringenin. The formed composite nanoparticles displayed enhanced antioxidant properties compared to their individual constituents.

Fabrication of alginate based microgels for drug-sustained release: In-vitro and in-vivo evaluation

Muhammad Suhail et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of alginate, itaconic acid, and N,N'-meth-ylene bisacrylamide in fabricating alginate based microgels for sustained release of theophylline. Characterization studies showed high thermal stability of the microgels and pH-dependent drug release mechanism described by a first order model. In vivo pharmacokinetic study in rabbits demonstrated sustained release properties of the developed microgels.

Emulsions of hydrolyzable oils for the zero-order release of hydrophobic drugs

Laura Tebcharani et al.

Summary: This study introduces a drug delivery system using a gellified emulsion for zero-order release of hydrophobic drugs, demonstrating tunable release rate and period by varying initial oil and drug concentrations. The system's quantitative understanding allows for predicting drug release kinetics, and it remains fully functional even after storing at -20 degrees C. Cell viability studies confirm the non-toxicity of the hydrolyzable oil and its hydrolysis product under the utilized conditions.
