Oncogenetic landscape of lymphomagenesis in coeliac disease

Sascha Cording et al.

Summary: The study identified mutations activating the JAK1-STAT3 pathway as the main drivers of enteropathy-associated T-cell lymphoma, potentially in combination with mutations in negative regulators of NF-kappa B. These mutations could promote the clonal emergence of malignant lymphocytes in the cytokine-rich coeliac intestine, and are attractive therapeutic targets for treating refractory celiac disease and blocking progression towards EATL.

The double-edged sword of gut bacteria in celiac disease and implications for therapeutic potential

Heather J. Galipeau et al.

Summary: Celiac disease is an immune-mediated disease triggered by gluten ingestion in genetically susceptible individuals. The current treatment, a gluten-free diet, is difficult to follow and does not always lead to symptomatic or mucosal remission. Recent studies have provided insights into the possible mechanisms through which bacteria could contribute to the pathogenesis of celiac disease. Targeting these mechanisms through microbial therapeutics may offer additional therapies to the gluten-free diet.

Wheat amylase/trypsin inhibitors (ATIs): occurrence, function and health aspects

Sabrina Geisslitz et al.

Summary: Amylase/trypsin inhibitors (ATIs) are substances widely found in cereal-based foods, and they have been associated with adverse reactions and health conditions related to wheat exposure. However, there is still limited knowledge about the biological activity and mechanisms of ATIs. Changes during food processing may affect the structure and activity of ATIs, but their effects in the gastrointestinal tract are not well understood. Further research using human studies and exploring innovative food processing methods is needed to better understand the effects of ATIs on human health.

However, false negativity is common after ingesting 10-1,000 mg of gluten.
