The effect of different compatibilizers on the properties of prepared poly(lactic acid)/polyurethane nanofibers by electrospinning

Sema Samatya Yilmaz et al.

Summary: This study successfully fabricated PLA/PU blended nanofibers with different types of compatibilizers for the first time, and investigated their characteristic properties. The nanofibers with superhydrophobic surface structure were obtained using AAI, while the nanofibers with the highest strength were achieved using JO, and the nanofibers with the highest elongation were obtained using TSP. Adding compatibilizers can significantly improve the performance of the nanofibers.

Electrospun polyacrylonitrile-based lace nanostructures and their Cu (II) adsorption

Xizi Xu et al.

Summary: A functionalized porous nanofibrous membrane loaded with MgO nanoparticles was prepared by coaxial electrospinning and post-processing method, and showed high efficiency in removing copper ions from aqueous solutions. The membrane had a larger specific surface area, a more uniform diameter distribution, and surface pores, as well as good mechanical properties and hydrophilicity. The adsorption of copper ions reached equilibrium within 3 hours, with an optimal adsorption pH of 5 and a maximum adsorption capacity of 354 mg/g. The membrane also demonstrated good recycling performance.

Electrospun Hybrid Films for Fast and Convenient Delivery of Active Herb Extracts

Shiri Guo et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a new concept of using electrospun polymer-based hybrid films as a platform for delivering active herb extract. The solution was transformed into solid nanofibers using a handheld electrospinning apparatus, resulting in medicated films loaded with the active herb extract. The films disintegrated rapidly and released the drug when encountering water, as confirmed by water droplet and wet paper experiments.

Electrospun hierarchical structural films for effective wound healing

Haixia Xu et al.

Summary: This study reports the design and preparation of a hierarchical structural film wound dressing made of hydrophobic polycaprolactone (PCL), hydrophilic gelatin, and hydrophilic Janus nanofibers loaded with ciprofloxacin (CIP) and zinc oxide nanoparticles (n-ZnO). The dressing showed outstanding surface wettability, excellent mechanical properties, and rapid drug release. It also exhibited antibacterial activity and accelerated wound healing in mice.

Engineered Spindles of Little Molecules Around Electrospun Nanofibers for Biphasic Drug Release

Hua He et al.

Summary: Biphasic drug release using electrospun nanofibers and their derivatives is a popular strategy for controlled drug delivery. In this study, a modified coaxial electrospinning technique was utilized to create engineered nanofiber structures that exhibited a biphasic release profile. In vitro dissolution tests confirmed the ability of the engineered nanofibers to release IBU in two distinct phases.
