Current status and research trends of lithium disilicate in dentistry: A bibliometric analysis

Yanning Chen et al.

Summary: The research on lithium disilicate in dentistry has been trending upward, with active participation from scholars in the United States, Germany, Switzerland, and Brazil. Publications from the United States have the highest number of citations. Research hotspots include types of restorative material, types of prostheses, and properties or techniques of materials.

Effect of occlusal anatomy of CAD/CAM feldspathic posterior crowns in the stress concentration and fracture load

Alexandre Luiz Souto Borges et al.

Summary: The study found that occlusal anatomy significantly influenced the load-to-fracture of the crown, with the adult design showing higher mean values and the young design showing lower values. The maximum principal stress criteria showed similar stress patterns for both designs, but the young design had the highest stress concentration on the occlusal surface.

Analysis of The Reproducibility of Subgingival Vertical Margins Using Intraoral Optical Scanning (IOS): A Randomized Controlled Pilot Trial

Edoardo Ferrari Cagidiaco et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the capability of an IOS device to detect margins of abutments prepared at different levels in relation to the gingival sulcus. Results showed that margin location is crucial for accurate impressions, and deep preparation into the sulcus is not recommended for IOS impressions.

Dental students' preference and perception on intraoral scanning and impression making

Walter Yu-Hang Lam et al.

Summary: This study investigates dental students' preferences and perceptions of intraoral scanning and impression making. Results show that while intraoral scanning is perceived to have advantages, many students still prefer impression making that is more efficient to them.

Resistance to Fracture of Lithium Disilicate Feldspathic Restorations Manufactured Using a CAD/CAM System and Crystallized with Different Thermal Units and Programs

Cristian Abad-Coronel et al.

Summary: The study found that feldspathic restorations crystallized with different ovens and programs showed varying levels of fracture resistance, with normal and rapid crystallization programs yielding higher values. Using a furnace and predetermined programs from the same dental company did not affect fracture resistance, and could save clinical time when performing ceramic restorations with lithium disilicate.

A simple solution to recycle and reuse dental CAD/CAM zirconia block from its waste residuals

Hao Ding et al.

Summary: This study found that dental CAD/CAM zirconia can be recycled and reused from its waste residuals by adopting a simple method that requires pre-sintering at 950 or 1000 degrees Celsius. Pre-sintering at these temperatures resulted in recycled zirconia with similar properties to control samples, showing that it is a feasible and effective recycling method.
