Surface milled by CAD-CAM system Vs laboratorial methods to simulate the milled surface: Effect on the resin bond strength to lithium disilicate glass-ceramic

Rafaela Oliveira Pilecco et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the resin microshear bond strength and surface topography of lithium disilicate ceramic milled by CAD/CAM, comparing it with various in-lab methods. The results showed no significant difference in resin bond strength between in-lab simulation methods and CAD/CAM milling, with surface polishing underestimating bond results.

In-lab simulation of CAD/CAM milling of lithium disilicate glass-ceramic specimens: Effect on the fatigue behavior of the bonded ceramic

Rafaela Oliveira Pilecco et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of different preparation methods on the fatigue performance and surface morphology of lithium disilicate ceramic bonded to dentin-analogue materials. Results showed that distinct fabrication methods significantly impacted the fatigue performance of ceramic discs, with in-lab simulation methods unable to accurately mimic the fatigue results of milled specimens.
