Stable Chelation of the Uranyl Ion by Acyclic Hexadentate Ligands: Potential Applications for 230U Targeted α-Therapy

Joshua J. Woods et al.

Summary: This study investigated four equatorial-spanning ligands as uranium chelators. The results showed that the complexes formed by these ligands with UO22+ were highly stable and exhibited good stability in vivo. The hox ligand demonstrated higher thermodynamic stability, likely due to its lower strain energy. The ligands remained >95% stable in human plasma and >80% intact in the presence of hydroxyapatite (HAP). In vivo experiments in mice showed that the uranium complexes of these ligands did not accumulate in the skeletal system. Overall, these equatorial-spanning ligands hold great promise for 230U TAT.

Influence of the First Coordination of Uranyl on Its Luminescence Properties: A Study of Uranyl Binitrate with N,N-Dialkyl Amide DEHiBA and Water

Hanna Oher et al.

Summary: Uranyl binitrate complexes are of particular interest in the nuclear industry, with the modified PUREX extraction process designed to extract U(VI) in a specific form. The DEHiBA ligands can coordinate uranyl in either trans- or cis-position with respect to the nitrate ligands, and these conformers may coexist in solution. The study aims to determine if these conformers can be discriminated by their spectroscopic properties through modeling and experimental verification.

Quantifying the Overall Efficiency of Circularly Polarized Emitters

Lorenzo Arrico et al.

Summary: This study introduces a new concept of CPL brightness (B-CPL), which takes into consideration the absorption extinction coefficient and quantum yield in addition to the g(lum) factor, to comprehensively evaluate the efficiency of CPL emitters. By calculating B-CPL values for over 180 compounds and analyzing the data distribution for main classes of CPL molecular emitters, this tool can aid in contextualizing new CPL active compounds and guiding the selection of molecular systems for specific CPL applications.
