Removal of AV 90 dye using ordered mesoporous carbon materials prepared via nanocasting of KIT-6: Adsorption isotherms, kinetics and thermodynamic analysis

Dilsad Dolunay Eslek Koyuncu et al.

Summary: By utilizing KIT-6 as a template, CMK-8 type ordered mesoporous carbon materials were synthesized. The optimal conditions for obtaining high uniformity, surface area, pore volume, and wall thickness were determined to be 2 M NaOH concentration and one leaching cycle. Adsorption studies showed that the highest removal efficiency for Acid Violet 90 dye was achieved at pH 2, with a Langmuir isotherm model providing the best fit to the data.

Using mesoporous carbon to pack polyethylene glycol as a shape-stabilized phase change material with excellent energy storage capacity and thermal conductivity

Daili Feng et al.

Summary: A novel shape-stabilized phase change material was prepared using PEG as PCM and FDU-15 as support. The composite showed superior thermal properties due to the enhanced thermal conductivity and reinforced atomic vibration matching between the skeleton and PCM material. FDU-15 demonstrated better thermal performance compared to other mesopore-based composite PCMs.

Scratch behavior and mechanical properties of alternating multi-layered PMMA/PC materials

Yang Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, the scratch behavior of multi-layered PMMA/PC materials was investigated through experiments and finite element modeling, revealing interfacial delamination during scratching and dividing the delamination process into three stages dominated by shearing mode crack propagation. Increasing the number of layers resulted in significant enhancement of ductility and toughness in the material.

Hydroxyapatite mineralization of chitosan-tragacanth blend/ZnO/Ag nanocomposite films with enhanced antibacterial activity

Shadpour Mallakpour et al.

Summary: The biocompatible nanocomposites were fabricated using chitosan and tragacanth gum with varying percentages of ZnO and ZnO@Ag nanoparticles. Characterization of the nanocomposites revealed the formation of hydroxyapatite on their surfaces. Evaluation of antibacterial activity showed that nanocomposites containing ZnO@Ag NPs exhibited stronger inhibition zones against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli compared to those containing ZnO NPs.
