Applicability of the Thawed Gaussian Wavepacket Dynamics to the Calculation of Vibronic Spectra of Molecules with Double-Well Potential Energy Surfaces

Tomislav Begusic et al.

Summary: This study explores the applicability of the single-Hessian thawed Gaussian approximation for simulating the vibrational resolved electronic spectra of anharmonic systems. The method is shown to be more robust and accurate than the traditional harmonic approximation, especially in cases where the harmonic approximation breaks down.

High-Resolution Electronic Excitation and Emission Spectra of Pentacene and 6,13-Diazapentacene Monomers and Weakly Bound Dimers by Matrix-Isolation Spectroscopy

Jean Thusek et al.

Summary: In this study, high-resolution absorbance and fluorescence spectra of pentacene (PEN) and 6,13-diazapentacene (DAP) in solid neon were reported using matrix-isolation technique, with accompanying DFT calculations allowing assignment of specific signals to corresponding modes. Evidence for the formation of van der Waals dimers of both substances was presented for the first time. These dimers exhibited significantly different optical characteristics due to the incorporation of sp(2) nitrogen into the molecular backbone.
