A nickel/organoboron catalyzed metallaphotoredox platform for C(sp2)-P and C(sp2)-S bond construction

Yuan Zhu et al.

Summary: In this study, a collaborative approach using AQDAB as an organoboron photocatalyst and nickel catalyst in metallaphotoredox catalyzed reactions has been developed to achieve efficient C(sp(2))-P and C(sp(2))-S cross-coupling. The strategy enables the coupling of aryl halides with diarylphosphine oxides and thiols at room temperature under an air atmosphere, leading to the synthesis of triarylphosphine oxides and thioethers in generally moderate to good yields.

Photocatalytic Synthesis of Difluoroacetoxy-containing Sulfoximines

Chenyang Wang et al.

Summary: The reaction between [Bis(difluoroacetoxy)iodo]benzene and NH-sulfoximines produces hypervalent iodine(III) reagents, which can transfer difluoroacetoxy and sulfoximidoyl groups to styrenes with high regioselectivity under photocatalysis. Mechanistic investigations suggest the involvement of radicals and highlight the importance of the difluoroacetoxy group in the iodine reagent.

The interplay of carbophilic activation and Au(i)/Au(iii) catalysis: an emerging technique for 1,2-difunctionalization of C-C multiple bonds

Vivek W. Bhoyare et al.

Summary: Gold complexes are favored catalysts for functionalization reactions of C-C multiple bonds due to their carbophilic nature, and efforts to achieve less accessible cross-coupling reactivity have led to the development of Au(i)/Au(iii) redox cycle. The interplay of carbophilic activation and Au(i)/Au(iii) catalysis in gold catalysis has allowed the development of a novel mechanistic paradigm for 1,2-difunctionalization reactions of various C-C multiple bonds.
