Purification, structural characterization and antioxidant activity of a new arabinogalactan from Dorema ammoniacum gum

Summary: Gum ammoniacum, a polymer from Dorema ammoniacum, was extracted and purified to obtain a new carbohydrate (DAC-1) with antioxidant activity. Structural analysis revealed the presence of arabinogalactan with specific monosaccharide units and a semi-crystalline structure, showing dominant weight loss temperatures above 200 degrees C. Antioxidant activity of DAC-1 was confirmed through various methods, indicating its potential pharmaceutical applications.
