The influence of multi-morbidities on colorectal cancer screening recommendations and completion

Gloria D. Coronado et al.

Summary: The study found that patients' chronic disease burden can influence providers' recommendations for FIT screening and patients' completion of the screening. In individuals with minimal chronic disease burden, odds of FIT recommendation were higher, while in those with high chronic disease burden, odds were lower. Additionally, as patients' chronic disease burden increased, the odds of FIT completion decreased.

Screening for Lung Cancer: US Preventive Services Task Force Recommendation Statement

Alex H. Krist et al.

Summary: Lung cancer is the second most common cancer and leading cause of cancer death in the US, with smoking and increasing age being the primary risk factors. Annual screening with low-dose computed tomography is recommended for adults aged 50 to 80 years with a 20 pack-year smoking history.

Preferred Lung Cancer Screening Modalities in China: A Discrete Choice Experiment

Zixuan Zhao et al.

Summary: Limited results on public attitudes towards lung cancer screening exist in both China and abroad. This study aimed to identify preferred screening modalities in a Chinese population and predict uptake rates of different modalities. Findings suggested that screening interval, screening venue, and out-of-pocket costs significantly influenced preferences, with a preference towards LDCT + blood test annually at a cost of RMB 50. Those without endowment insurance were more likely to opt out, suggesting a need for financial support to reduce attendance inequalities among disadvantaged elderly individuals.

Lung cancer screening: who pays? who receives?-the Chinese perspective

Yang Zhang et al.

Summary: The National Lung Screening Trial (NLST) showed that LDCT screening can reduce lung cancer mortality by 20.0%. In China, LDCT is affordable and accessible, leading to differences in screening results compared to Western countries. LDCT in China detects a significant proportion of young, female, and non-smoking lung cancer patients with a higher percentage of ADC and early-stage disease. However, concerns about overdiagnosis and overtreatment are also raised.
